The Practical Skills Instructor Program consists of online and onsite courses and is designed for professional stylists who want to take the next step to become a Practical Skills Instructor. The Nash System Practical Skills Instructor Training Program is the first in the industry and will set standards in teaching the art of bathing, grooming and styling requirements, policies, and procedures worldwide.

Online and Onsite Courses in Dog Diploma Program
Prerequisite Online Courses for Dog Diploma Program
All Nash Academy Instructors must complete, or must have previously completed, the online courses in the Diploma Program for Dogs. Instructors must achieve a 92.0 GPA or higher to qualify to take the Nash Practical Skills Instructor Program. If you have taken the diploma online courses via the Nash Academy or another organization using the Nash System of Education, you can request the school or organization to submit your transcript.
Options to take Online Courses in the Diploma Program
Test out and instructor driven options are available to complete the online courses. The time frame to complete the online courses and the amount of tuition is determined by the option you choose to take the courses.

About Test Out
The test out is the fast track option to complete the courses and can also be used to retake the online courses to raise your GPA for a course or course series.

About Instructor Driven
The instructor driven option is designed for online group discussions with classmates and other practical skills instructors.

Options to Complete Onsite Trim Styles Required in the Dog Diploma Program Courses
The practical skills instructors have the option of testing out on the required trim styles during your onsite training or submitting documentation verifying the skills for the required trim styles. Learn more about the test out and credit for previous experience.

Online and Onsite Courses in Cat Diploma Program
The second step is to decide if you want to teach cat bathing, grooming and styling to receive a Nash Systems Practical Skills Instructor Certification for the Feline. Teaching cat grooming is optional and not a requirement.

If you are interested in teaching bathing, grooming and styling the cat, you must complete or have previously completed the online and onsite courses in the cat diploma program and received a GPA of 92.0 or higher.

Options to take Online Courses in the Diploma Program
Test out and instructor driven options are available to complete the online courses. The time frame to complete the online courses and the amount of tuition is determined by the option you choose to take the courses.

Understanding How to Teach Practical Skills Program
Online and Onsite Courses
The third step is what you have been waiting for. You are now ready to start the Practical Skills Instructor Program. The online and onsite courses required in the practical skills instructor program is about the responsibilities of a practical skills instructor, the guidelines required to teach the prepping, bathing, drying, brushing and finishing phases to create consistency, how to adhere to teaching policies and procedures to evaluate and score students on their achievements and what it truly means to be a Nash Practical Skills Certified Instructor.

About Practical Skills Instructor Online and Onsite Courses
The responsibilities of an instructor will be discussed and practiced including student orientation, how to take attendance, student schedules, online and onsite tests, progress reports, report cards, and graduation. Instructors will be taught about communication on the training floor, the importance of daily team meetings, individual student assignments, weekly reports, and the various teaching tools in the Nash Virtual Library including the Groomers and Canine Reference.

About School Catalog Online and Onsite Courses
Understanding and conducting school catalog policies and procedures will be included in the online and onsite courses. It is critical for all members of the school team, especially for practical skills instructors, to understand the school catalog. The school catalog is required by the state and contains all the rules, policies and procedures the school must follow to stay in compliance. The objective of the school catalog is for a school to create policies and procedures and to follow these policies and procedures to maintain consistency and to make sure all students are treated equal. Students are required to review and acknowledge they have read and understand the content in the school catalog.

About Client Relations Online and Onsite Courses
All practical skills instructors must understand all the policies and procedures required by the client relations team to be able to receive and present pets to the clients. The online course is all about the rules, policies and procedures for opening the salon, preparing the salon to receive pets, presenting the pets to clients, conducting tours for first time clients, calling pre book clients and taking appointments and how to create an even work day.

About the Salon Safety Management Courses
What exactly is the responsibilities of the salon safety manager? Ensuring compliance with general rules, requiring that all tools are inspected and the tool list is complete at each station, reviewing and qualifying new tools, inspecting for safety checks in each task area of the salon and insuring the salon team understands how and why it is important to follow step by step dilution procedures. This course also discusses how to conduct and practice emergency drills, understanding and training staff on OSHA principles (including product labeling) and location of OSHA materials and so much more is included in this course that is all about salon safety.

The instructor driven option is the only method available to complete the online courses. The time frame to complete the online courses is 1 to 4 months. The instructor driven option is designed for online group discussions with classmates and other practical skills instructors.

The instructor driven is the only option available to complete the onsite courses in the practical skills instructor program. The time frame to complete the training is 80 clock hours. The first 40 hours is working with the instructors and practicing what you have learned online. The second 40 hour is conducting the policies and procedures you have studied online and have practiced onsite.
