Learn techniques, procedures, tools and products so that any salon would be happy to have you on board. You can study at the internationally renowned Nash Academy and learn how to professionally bathe dogs by coat type or attend one of our approved training sites located around the globe. After successfully completing this 200 hour practical course, you will receive a certificate documenting your expertise and as a Nash graduate, remember jobs are waiting for you.

This course provides you with the skills you need to enter the exciting world of pet care professionals and experience first hand what it's like to work with dogs on a daily basis.

This portion of the course includes the practical application of all technical skills necessary to brush, bathe and dry Man's Best Friend with safe and gentle handling skills. The correct methods of care of the dog's eyes, ears, nose, feet, and brushing teeth will be taught and practiced. Dog bathing, brushing and drying techniques will be practiced daily, including the proper products, tools, and techniques to use on different coat types. You will also be instructed in removing shedding coat using different tools, products, and techniques. Time management is also a big part of this bathing course to make you ready for the workforce.


COURSE OBJECTIVES - PHASE 1A
Bathing dogs by coat type makes it easy to learn how to bathe properly! This courses includes all of the technical skills necessary to properly bathe, brush, and dry the coat on Man's Best Friend. The proper techniques and procedures to care for the dog's eyes, ears, nose, feet, and brushing teeth will be taught and practiced.

Dog bathing, brushing and drying techniques will also be taught and practiced daily, including the proper products, tools, and techniques to use on the different coat types. You will also be instructed and will be able to practice dematting and removing shedding coat using various tools, products, and techniques determined by the coat type on Man's Best Friend.

As you can see, Nash has it down to a science when it comes to properly taking care of the coat on Man's Best Friend. Listed below are the different coat types that you will be working on and a breed example of each specific coat type:

Brushing the teeth and applying oral hygiene sprays and gels.

Removing the hair from the ear canal and cleaning the ears.
Eye Care
Cleansing the eyes with optical eye drops.
Removing drainage and stains from the coat around the eye area.
Foot Care
Trimming and filing the nails.
Treating the pads with skin creams.
Nose Care
Treating the nose with skin creams.
Anal Glands
Checking anal glands and releasing the glands if necessary.
Skin Care
Recognizing skin disorders and utilizing the proper products.
Recognizing parasites and utilizing the proper products.
Coat Care
Bathing different coat types and utilizing various bathing techniques.
Drying different coat types and utilizing various drying techniques.
Brushing different coat types and utilizing various brushing techniques.
Deshedding different coat types and utilizing deshedding techniques.
Carding different coat types to remove undercoat.
