Vivian and John Nash, renowned for their educational innovations in the pet care professions, are about to do it againrevolutionize the way the groomers of tomorrow are trained. This time, you and your salon can be part of this revolution. The Nashes are looking for state-of-the-art salons to partner with them in the training of the groomers of the future, and if your salon is committed to safety and compassion for pets, and willing to utilize the Nash methodology in your salon (many of you already do!), your salon may become a Nash Approved Training Site, and take advantage of the educational package the Nashes have put together for the training of students: you benefit, and the industry as a whole benefits. The Nashes are seeking a partnership with salons which adhere to the highest standards of professional excellence, expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and devotion to the Nash belief in compassion for the pet, in a highly innovative Practical Skills Training Program, utilizing the world renowned Nash System of Education. Once your staff is educated in Nash methodology and certified to teach this methodology, students in your geographical area will attend school at your salon for their Practical Skills Training, using the Nash package of enrollment, tracking attendance, grades, lessons, and everything else that you need to become a successful training site.
In 2004, the Nash Academy revolutionized the pet care profession by presenting its first series of online courses, so that all students seeking to become pet care professionals enter the hands-on portion of their training with a thorough, comprehensive background in dog knowledge. The online courses in the "Man's Best Friend" series include the history of the dog, AKC breeds, variations within the breeds, anatomy, care, feeding, vaccination, temperament and behavior, first aid and much more, making students, first and foremost, dog experts. For those students entering the pet grooming profession, the next online course series, the "Dog Grooming & Styling Professional," presents the theory behind bathing, grooming and styling, plus the professional terminology and vocabulary needed to master this theory, thus creating a standardization of terminology designed to reduce the confusion long known in our industry over such terms as "feathering" and "furnishings," or a "kennel trim" and a "sporting trim," for example. By offering theory online, all students receive the same very important information, eliminating the problems of students out sick missing critical lectures and the issues of trying to make up those lectures. The students attending your training site will have successfully completed the Nash online courses, and be ready to start grooming, as students from its online courses are fully prepared to launch into the hands-on portion of their training with a complete vocabulary of professional terminology and a thorough grasp of the theory of grooming and styling. When our online students first stand before a grooming table with a dog on that table for them to groom, they are familiar with the necessary tools, equipment, safety gear and overall salon procedures. They are not starting from square one. They are prepared to become excellent bathers, groomers and stylists, and no one knows that any better than a Nash graduate.
